Ray Moughalian’s Revenge Spinnerbait
Jun 2012 24

So is there truly a place for the world’s best spinnerbaits? What would constitute that title? We have all fished with a friend or against a gent who claimed to have the best spinnerbait. The reasons could be many.

Attention is given to spinnerbaits that get the job done more than anything but what are some of the key points a professional angler might look for in a top performer?

Regarding “killer” spinnerbaits we hear statements reflecting top componentry, good vibration, and true tracking. Add great finishes and profiles and you have a looker.

What would you say if you could package all the top attributes in that spinnerbait and more in a heavy metal missile nearly 40% smaller in size? Now that is WOW.

We assure you, there are bass pros right now that wish BassEast had left well enough alone. That’s right. Compact spinnerbaits were a secret of the west for many years and then Mr. Moughalian decided to take his diamonds to the bass capital of the universe. Well, we can’t be hatin’ da brotha’.  Top anglers owe Ray many thanks for his creations and contributions to professional angling. Good technology usually finds its way to the discriminating angler.

BassEast has been testing Ray’s creations for almost a year simply because with spinnerbaits it can get difficult separating the cream from the cream. There are tons of metal and blades out there banging against stumps and burning the surfaces.

Imagine throwing a 1-1/4 oz. spinnerbait the size of some standard ¼ oz. spinnerbaits.

BassEast found the Revenge Spinnerbaits in several models to do just what they were designed to do. The ¾ oz. (even the ½ oz.) cast like a bullet and could be thrown accurately in 25 mph winds. Not only that, pending the type and diameter of the line we used, we could fish the ¾ oz. down to 18 ft. without any effort. We are talking about bait sinking quickly and being controlled at that depth. The 1-1/4 oz. was another favorite. It was best thrown on 15 pound and up. Man what a reaction bait! It pushed a lot of water extremely fast and dove to 20 plus feet in seconds. Why is this so important? If you are targeting suspended fish just below the surface and they dive quickly to 20 ft. you can still chase them all day long.

Change blades on these compact bullets and slow roll the bottom of the ocean if you prefer.

BassEast gave the Revenge Spinnerbait:

“A” in cosmetics:  The most detailed spinnerbait around. Reminded us of JDM quality. High-end components make a difference.

“B+” in durability:  while comparing the spinnerbait to others in our box we had absolutely no initial failures, in fact, other spinnerbaits we fished (no names mentioned) bend out, lost action and broke during our year long journey. Revenge has several wire diameters/ configurations to suit your needs.

“B+” in swim action:  The Revenge swam flawlessly; the heavier versions swam better than other baits the same size. The heavier blades are going to take some getting used to. It is like the difference between a crankbait and a heavy swimbait.

Have fun with this bait and in no time you will be way ahead of the pack.
